In accordance with its national and local by-laws, only members are allowed to serve on the Board of Directors. 

The Board of Directors consists of not less than 17 or more than 22 members reflecting the YWCA’s geographic service area, constituent age and social-economic demographics.  Board members must agree with the mission and public policy statements of the YWCA USA.  Terms are for three years and can be renewed for up to two consecutive terms.

It is the role of the Board to set strategic direction and policy for the YWCA Greater Newburyport as well as assure the sound financial management and stewardship of the organization’s programs and assets.

The Board of Directors meets monthly with much of its work performed through active standing and ad-hoc committees.

Those interested in serving on the board should complete an application and submit it to the nominating committee for consideration.  Because the board is limited in size, not all who wish to serve on the board will be considered.
